Our research workflow

For each seller review, we follow a 5-phase research workflow that takes approximately 6-12 hours of focused work per seller:

Phase 1 β€” Storefront browsing (1-2 hours)

Direct browsing of the seller's Yupoo storefront and any aliased domains. Documenting category coverage, SKU naming patterns (P-coded vs Unicode-coded vs plain), stock rotation cadence, pricing ranges, and any unusual operational signals (NFC tier mentions, batch tier disclosure, multi-language community presence).

Phase 2 β€” Third-party verification (2-3 hours)

Searching JadeShip, Reddit r/CoutureReps + r/RepSneakers + r/RepFashion, TikTok via #yupoo and seller-specific tags, and YouTube haul videos. Documenting community thread participation, formal directory tags, creator validation, and any flagged complaints.

Phase 3 β€” Operational infrastructure mapping (1-2 hours)

Identifying multi-storefront patterns (alternate Yupoo accounts, alternate domains, cross-seller backend overlaps), Discord/Telegram community presence, multi-language footprint, and operational signals. This is where Hu Chen network membership gets identified β€” through shared WhatsApp numbers, shared emails on Issuu/Tumblr marketing pages, and infrastructure pattern matching.

Phase 4 β€” Brand-specific verification protocol research (1-3 hours)

For brand aggregation pages, we research authentic-product brand documentation, retail teardowns, and rep-tier batch comparisons to extract specific verification checkpoints (saddle stitching counts, buckle weights, GSM fabric weights, hardware engraving depth specifications, monogram alignment patterns, gemstone setting accuracy, NFC chip authentication patterns, etc.). This research draws from authentic brand sites, retail sales associate documentation, third-party authentication services (Real Authentication, Entrupy, etc. for reference), and rep-tier batch comparison threads.

Phase 5 β€” Writing and cross-referencing (1-2 hours)

Writing the page from independent research β€” not rephrasing prior content per Iron Rule 9 β€” and cross-linking to the relevant 5-15 other reviewed sellers and brand pages where the seller or brand context is mutually informative.

Hu Chen network mapping methodology

The Hu Chen backend network mapping is the largest single research finding across our review series. The methodology that produced it:

  1. WhatsApp number cross-referencing β€” we noticed that Issuu/Tumblr marketing pages for multiple distinct Yupoo storefronts (Beverly, Ashmade, Repmaster, Dragonreps, Chipotle, 0832 Club) listed the same backend WhatsApp number: +86 1XX XXXX 8992. This is distinct from each storefront's public-facing WhatsApp.
  2. Email infrastructure overlap β€” the same marketing pages listed shared emails (services***@gmail.com, buyers***@gmail.com) across multiple storefronts, again distinct from each storefront's public contact email.
  3. Operational signals β€” confirmed members all describe their batch quality using the term "Lushentics" tier in their own marketing copy, suggesting a shared sourcing infrastructure rather than independent rep production capacity.
  4. Probable membership inference β€” additional storefronts (The Wave, TigerRep, Thunder, Caesar #1, ZZZTop) match operational signals (multi-WhatsApp redundancy patterns, shared Yupoo subdomain conventions, batch tier terminology) without confirmed backend contact data. These are flagged as "probable" rather than "confirmed."

The network mapping is documented across 25 of our 76 pages β€” we cross-link the network on every relevant seller review and luxury brand aggregation page where Hu Chen sourcing is operationally relevant.

Limitations of our research

We try to be honest about where our research is limited:
